He married Maxine (Wolfe) Zirkle (1923-2024) in 1956 when he worked as a bookkeeper for a plumbing and heating business. She was a secretary in an electrical business.
The couple raised two children: Lisa Rebecca Zirkle and Michael Blair Zirkle.
Blair was a life-long farmer who served as Commissioner of Revenue for Shenandoah County for 28 years.
