Photo of two separate portrait photographs of Warren B. French, Jr. in a suit and tie.

He was born in Woodstock, the first of ten children born to Lena Belle Sheetz and Warren Ballinger French.

Warren was a graduate of Woodstock High School, Massanutten Military Academy, and the University of Virginia. In September 1941, he entered the V-12 Navy College Training Program. When the second world war started, Warren served in the U.S. Navy as an Ensign. After, he returned to UVA and received his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering in 1947.

He had a long career in telecommunications and he retired as President of Shenandoah Telecommunications Company in 1988 and as Chairman of its Board of Directors in 1995.

He was married to Pat (Teale) French for 70 years.

The image on the right has a mark at the top where the photographer noted which of the two images he planned to print.
