Description

Photo of two separate portrait photographs of Donald K. Funkhouser in a suit and tie.

He was born in Edinburg, Virginia, to Silas Alvin and Sarah Louise (Kagey) Funkhouser. His father was a teacher.

He graduated from Bridgewater College and served four years in the U.S. Air Force. Next, he served eight years in the Virginia House of Representatives.

He was married twice. His wives were Betty (Dovel) Funkhouser (married in 1958, divorced in 1973) and Jeane M. (Hunt) Funkhouser, who he married a few months after his divorce.

After his government service, he moved to Cuero, Texas, where he owned and operated a radio station in Flurrias, Beeville, and Del Rio. After retiring from broadcasting he owned an independent trucking firm and was a freight agent.

He died in Cuero, Texas, and is buried in Hamburg, Shenandoah County, Virginia.
