Edward M. Gearing

A Woodstock native, Edward served in the US Army’s 29th Infantry Division during World War Two. He was in the initial assault wave on Omaha Beach on D-Day and distinguished himself after his landing craft was destroyed and most of his company killed. Gearing was wounded 3 times and was discharged from Walter Reed Hospital. He died in 1963.
