Letter:
Dear Family ( & Sid)
How is everything at home? I hope the days go fast down here and I’m not kidding when I say I like it, but it is hard as He-
We had inspection today and will go on the rifle range in a few days. We go to the PX now and have been to a movie. Mother you know about Jack, well he is a swell guy and from Richmond, Va. There are about 15 Va. boys here, two from Broadway. I saw Bill Evans twice and he left for outpost this morning. Tell everyone to write and to give me time and I will too.
If you want to send magazine and newspapers it’s ok specially the newspaper. I had a (dirty?) rifle once and haven’t miss an inspection question yes pretty good no-Yes. Tell all the girls you see to write because I sure would like to talk to a girl even an old bag. By the way Jack just said hello again. He said he would like to see Sid. Say Maw will you send me another jar of (chue?) and make those magazines comic books [?] The boys are singing so I guess I’ll have to stop and join them.
Love Joe XXXXXXX
P.S. Down here you aren’t a yardbird you’re a shit Bird
