Dec 26, 1943
Dear Family,
I was going to call or wire you yesterday but I got the guard. This will probably be my last letter for a few weeks. More maneuvers but I don’t know where. That’s the way it will be when I go over. I won’t know when or where till I get there. For all I know this may be it.
I hope you had a Merry Christmas. I had liberty Thursday and Friday and didn’t know about the guard until Christmas morning. I was pissed off.
The book for you all isn’t finished yet but it’s paid for and will come to you when its finished if I’m not here.
I’m so sleepy I can hardly stay awake so I’ll stop for now. Bee good till you hear from me. Yawn [scrawled]
Love,
Joe
P.S. every thing came ok.
