Letter:

________ Island

Dear Mother and All,
Here goes an attempt at a little more regular writing. We left the Marshals and came here a few days ago. The island we were on “Namur” is part of the Kwajalein Atoll and we had the hardest time of them
all. It was pretty hard and we sure killed Hells [Hills?] of Japs. I’m not sure I killed any but I surely shot at plenty and I’m sure sorry if I missed.
I saw Uncle Alva’s son Edgar Myner and he is safe. Joe and all the guys say Hello. I can’t say very much except I’m safe and far from the fighting. I got a buck from Aunt Corda and heard from my woman. Ha. Tell everyone hello and send the box and a cheap fountain pen.
Love,
Joe
