Letter:
Saipan Island
Dear Family,
Well I’m safe and feeling pretty good. You probably got my letter saying I was going into combat. Well for the past 30 days I have been right in the middle of it. With the help of God I came through. Don’t expect many letters until I get to a camp somewhere and get settled because I’m pretty busy. It will probably be some time.
Tell Jenny Lind I received the [Lutheran] league Chimes and tell the folks at home I have learned the value of prayer. Tell all my girls hello. All my love, Joe
