Letter:
Dear Dad,
I guess you will be surprised to get this money order, well hold your breath because I’ll send more when I can. Maybe it will help pay you for that furlough I had. Ha. Any way I want you all to spend this for Christmas. Divide it up, what little there is and buy something you want not need but just want. Ten is for Erma and twenty for you and mother.
Dad I guess you have received my last letter now about the Christmas present and I am waiting for an answer but just any thing is ok. I can’t really think of anything I really want.
Don’t tell mother but I am having a belt made for she and Erma, nothing for you though Ha. Say old man write and tell me what you are going to give mother and sis.
What’s the dope on Leila and Joe Miley? I heard she was going with him some. You tell him he had better watch his steps or I’ll show him a trick I learned with my dress belt, think that will scare him Ha.
Tell Mr. Tom to write a statement as to where he bought the 45 and give it to you. They are checking on them and although Lt. Reynolds is keeping it for me I’ll need the statement to keep it. If he didn’t buy it he can say so. I don’t think they will check very far. I have to write some more so I’ll close for now.
Love,
Joe
