Irene Marston was housemother for nurses living in Shenandoah County Memorial Hospital’s Vanderbilt Hall. A LPN since 1964, she made sure the nurses had a stable place to call home. She also worked shifts at the hospital and as a private nurse.
Irene grew up at Wakeman’s Grove. She had three children, was an active member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, and the Shenandoah County Cancer Society. She also painted and collected flowers while spending time at her cabin home.
