Photograph of Ada Woldson Samuels.

Published in the Shenandoah Herald newspaper on May 8 1969 as part of their "Country Kitchen" series.

Ada was born in January 15 1919 in Strasburg Virginia. Daughter of a tailor who operated Wolfsons Clothing Store, she grew up in a Jewish Household.

She later married Joseph Samuels and they eventually came to run the store themselves. Outside their business, Ada worked as a volunteer with the Shenandoah County Memorial Hospital and the Strasburg Hospitality Cart. They also regularly attended Wayside Theater productions in Middletown VA and Bark Hill Theater productions in Winchester.

Ada's cooking regime was defined by her commitment to a Kosher lifestyle. She would travel to Baltimore to purchase her meat and other items from a relative.

Ada died in Ventura County California in 1984.
