Helen was born in Toms Brook to Samuel Irving (1904-1994) and Violet May (Bauserman) (1908-1995) Windle. She married Elmer Lee Mumaw, Jr. (1930-2022).
She was a member of Strasburg United Methodist Church and worked as a switchboard operator for Farmers Mutual Telephone System, now Shentel. She retired from Shenandoah Memorial Hospital where she was a dietary supervisor.
Helen and her husband had two children: Darlene ""Cookie"" Day and Daryl ""Beanie"" Mumaw.
