Subject

Richman, Roy Lee (1899-1981)
Richman, Ruth M. Keller (1906-1989)

Description

Photograph of Roy and Ruth (Keller) Richman when they were young. The image was made around the time of their wedding.

Roy Lee Richman was the 9th child born to Isaac Milton (1856-1950) and Mary Catherine (Sager) (1858-1935) Richman. When he registered for the WWI draft, he farmed for J.M. Richman, (probably a relative) in Maurertown and listed his mother as his emergency contact.

He married Ruth M. (Keller) Richman in 1927 and the couple had at least two sons and two daughters together. When he registered for the WWII draft, Roy was still farming in Maurertown. At that time, he was described as 5’7” and 125 pounds.

In the 1950 census, the couple lived in the Stonewall District where Roy farmed. Besides Roy and his wife, Ruth, four children (Robert, Harold, Mary and Martha) and Roy’s father, Isaac, lived with them.

Both Roy and Ruth are buried in Alonzaville, west of Woodstock.
