Clara was the daughter of Milton L. and Nina F. Haun.
She was a 1951 graduate of Edinburg High School. She married her high school sweetheart, Marvin Clinton Pence, Jr. (1933-2014) later that year. Marvin was the son of Marvin Clinton and Mary Ellen (Coffelt) Pence. Over the course of their long marriage, the couple had three sons together: Earl Clinton, Ricky Lee, and David Alan.
Clara is remembered by her family and friends as having been a consummate mother and homemaker. She was an excellent cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family and friends. She was also an avid sports fan of baseball and hockey and enjoyed watching the Washington Nationals and Washington Capitals games.
Clara was a longstanding member of Arlington Forest United Methodist Church where she was a volunteer in the kitchen for many years.
After moving to Nokesville, VA in 1988 she and her husband attended Nokesville United Methodist Church where she was a member of the United Methodist Women and also a volunteer in the kitchen.
