Virginia was the daughter of Joseph Russell Miller, Jr. (1865-1953) and Mary Virginia (Hoshour) Miller (1873-1976).

She married Billy Lewin Hottle (1921-1993) in 1947. Billy was the Postmaster of Toms Brook.
