Born in Strasburg, Walter was the son of George William and Rebecca Monroe (Funkhouser) Glaize.
He married Anna Susan Henshaw in 1914. She was from Jefferson, West Virginia, and the daughter of C.W. and Flora B. Henshaw.
The couple lived in Strasburg and had four children together: Charles H., David H., Annetha E., and Mary R. Glaize.
