Photograph of Frederick "Fred" W. Griswold Jr., a Cadet Color Sergeant at Massanutten Academy with a banjo.
Fred was from Hartford, Connecticut, the only child of Frederick W. (1870-1935) and Grace L. (O’Flaherty) (1880-1956) Griswold.
He worked in the aeronautic industry all his life. Records noted his job titles as “Experimental Dept.” at Pratt & Whitney in the early 1940’s, and “Lab Technician” in an Aircraft Factory in 1950.
He married Helen Cyr (Barnard) (1908-1962) Griswold and had two children, a son, Harrison Randolph and a daughter, Mary Ellen.
A few years after his wife died, Fred married again. His second wife was Ruth Crocket from Coventry, Tolland, Connecticut.
He died in Riverside County, California, but was buried in Granby Cemetery in Hartford, Connecticut, with his first wife, Helen.
