Mae Strickler was born in Strasburg to John T. and Mae Barham Strickler. She was a 1940 graduate of Strasburg High School and a member of the Strasburg United Methodist Church.
She moved to Cincinnati, Ohio in 1945 and returned to Strasburg in 1963. She was employed with the Civil Service in Front Royal, Marsh & Sarver Law Firm, Strasburg, and retired from Henkel-Harris Company, Winchester after 25 years of service.
Mae married Cecil W. Carper (1922-2006). He was her second husband.
When she died, Mae left behind her sons, Emmett M. Ey and Paul R. Ey.
