Carl was in the U.S. Navy while Robert was a paratrooper in the Airborne division of the U.S. Army.
Their parents were Lawrence and Essie (Brill) Linaweaver. They also had a sister named Louise (Linaweaver) Raynor Seekford.
When he registered for the WWII draft, Carl worked at the Safeway Store in Front Royal but lived on Spring Street in Woodstock. He served in the U.S. Navy Reserves from December 1944 to July 1946. Sometime later, he married Lavine Estelle (Gulick) (1919-1982), a woman from West Virginia, who worked as a waitress in a restaurant.
Robert served in the Airborne Division of the U.S. Army from May 1943 to Dec 1945. After, he married Emily Isabel (Hollar) (1924-2017) in 1946. She was a nurse and the daughter of Lester Granville and Mazie Irene (Lambert) Hollar. When they married, Robert was a 21-year old service station operator in Edinburg. The couple had five children: Robert Jr., Sue, Rebecca, William, and Richard “Dicky”.
