She was the daughter of John Ozias and Lydia (Wilkins) Wakeman of Lantz Mill.
In 1904, she married Levi B. Gochenour of Maurertown. The couple had at least nine children together before Levi died in 1935.
Susie was a 55-year old widow when she married William Luther Hottle in Toms Brook in 1941. He was born in Maurertown but died in Somerset County, Pennsylvania, in 1966.
Susie is buried in Edinburg with her first husband.
