She was the daughter of Franklin S. and Sallie (Supinger) Bowman. She taught music in Woodstock for many years and sang and played the organ in the Lutheran Church in Woodstock.
She was also the first woman to serve on the church council of Emanuel Lutheran Church in Woodstock.
Mary was an only child and never married.
