Born in Bentonville, Virginia, Mollie was the daughter of Hiram and Jennie (Jett) Funk. She married Kirby Lee Lichliter (1873-1958) of Fort Valley and had several children including: Shirley, Lester, Isabel, Olla, Alvin, and Sadie.
Kirby Lee Lichliter was the son of Cornelius and Elizabeth Lichliter. He was about 10 years older than Mollie and had been married before. The 1910 census found them living on Back Road where he worked as an engineer for a saw mill.
