This photograph was used in the 1925 Strasburg High School yearbook. The yearbook staff wrote this about Walter:

"The world could be searched over and over -- and one like "Duke" could not be found. We can candidly say he is the only one of his type. He can do most anything and get away with it, although never taxing his brain with hard study. It takes a good deal to worry this fellow, but when occasion demands it -- such as an argument on any subject -- "Duke" can dispute, confute, change sides and still confute."
