She was born in Shenandoah County to George Henry and Maggie A. Mauck but lived in Prince Georges County, Maryland, for most of her married life. She was buried in Suitland, Maryland.

The 1930 census found her living in on Chapel Road in Seat Pleasant, Maryland, with her machinist husband, 36-year old Edward Franklin Vann, and seven children.
