Portrait photograph of Mabel (Mauck) Miller taken circa 1945.

Mabel was born to Carl Raymond and Susie Vernie (Riffey) Mauck.

She first married James Medgar Cook (1906-1946), originally from Wakeman's Grove. He worked as a barber and lived in Woodstock when he died.

In the two years they were together, the couple had one daughter, Carolyn.

A few years later, Mabel married Maxwell Alexander Miller (1921-1993) in Toms Brook, the son of Lacey James and Bessy May (Racey) Miller. He was a farmer from Edinburg. He also served in the U.S. Navy during WWII.

Mabel had three daughters with her second husband: Kay, Jean and Maxine. She was a member of Columbia Furnace Brethren Church. Mabel was also co-owner of the Mt. Jackson Grocery.
