Title
Stanley Gochenour and Robert Leon Newman
Subject
Gochenour, Stanley Franklin (1914-2000)
Newman, Robert Leon (1909-1987)
Description
The name, “Mrs. Syd Newman” is written on the glass plate of the image of these two young boys posed together.
After some research, we believe It is possible the boy on the left was Stanley Franklin Gochenour (1914-2000) and the boy on the right was Ray Leon Newman (1909-1987).
Ray would have been the son of Robert Sydney Newman, a carpenter and farmer from Maurertown, and his wife, Naomi E. (Gochenour) Newman. Stanley would have been Naomi’s nephew and the 1920 census found Stanley living with the Newman family as a 5-year old.
Both are buried in the Valley Pike Church of the Brethren Cemetery in Maurertown.
However, we cannot be sure this identification is correct.
