Robert Shipe, seated, with his little sister, Lesta A. Shipe, photographed as young children.
Robert and Lesta were the two oldest children born to Albert and Eunice (Tamkin) Shipe. They were from Fort Valley.
The Richmond Times Dispatch newspaper published a short article on March 17, 1937 (page 20) related to Lesta's death from burns she received when she was just "eleven" years old. She had been working near the kitchen stove wearing an apron when it caught fire and enveloped her in flames.
W. Robert Shipe spent his life in Fort Valley. His first wife was Elsie Lee Fravel. His second wife was Georgie Frances Shipe.
