Landon was born in Washington, DC, the son of Esta (Gochenour) Walker and Raymond William Walker.
Landon served in the U.S. Army during WWII and served with the rank of Sergeant with the 63rd Division in France and Germany, where he was wounded and received the Purple Heart Medal.
He married Frances Stine Walker in 1946, and they were married more than 74 years before she died in 2020.
They raised their family in Maurertown and Landon worked as a US Postal rural letter carrier for 28 years.
