Rebecca, as she was called, was a registered nurse. She was from Strasburg, the daughter of Walter Tanquary and Ann Susan (Henshaw) Glaize.
She married Phillip Sheridan Porter, Jr., born in Missouri, in 1952. He was in the U.S. Navy stationed at the Naval Air Station at Patuxent River, Maryland, at the time.
Over the years, the couple had at least five children together and lived in Fairfax County for most of their married lives.
She is buried in Riverview Cemetery, Strasburg, with her husband.
