Robert Franklin Beydler was the son of Roy and Clara Belle (Bauserman) Beydler, farmers from the Woodstock area.

He lived in Maurertown and worked as a laborer when he married Mildred V. (Heishman) Wetzel in 1948. Mildred Virginia Heishman was born in Woodstock, a daughter of Lee Allen and Lillian Christina (Abell) Heishman.

Mildred had a daughter, Jean Marie Wetzel, when they married. The couple went on to have three more children: Lois Christina, Gary Franklin, and Randy Lee (1952-2013) Beydler.

Robert served in the U.S. Navy during WWII, and later, retired from Chemstone after 32 years of service.

The family lived in Oranda, near Strasburg, for many years, and attended Walnut Springs Christian Church there.
