Description

Portrait photograph of Juanita V. (Wolfe) Artz, of Strasburg, as a young woman.

She is best remembered for the years she and her husband, Sam Artz, operated Artz Hardware on W. King Street in Strasburg.

Juanita was born in Winchester, a daughter of Paul Crabill and Mildred Hyla (Hodson) Wolfe. She grew up in Strasburg, and graduated from Strasburg High School in 1945.

She married Samuel Franklin Artz Sr., also of Strasburg, on June 29, 1946.

Juanita raised her three children and worked alongside her husband in the family business, Artz's Hardware.

She loved to sing and did so all her life. She served in her church's choirs and was a long-time member of the Front Royal Oratorio Society. She gave of her time and energy to the Strasburg Community Library and Compassion Cupboard as well as many other charitable organizations.
