Two Images of Ada (Wolfson) Samuels

Subject

Samuels, Ada (Wolfson) (1919-1984)

Description

Photo of two separate images of Ada (Wolfson) Samuels as a young woman.

Ada was born in Strasburg, the daughter of a tailor who operated Wolfsons Clothing Store. She grew up in a Jewish household.

She later married Joseph Samuels and they eventually came to run the store themselves.

Outside their business, Ada worked as a volunteer with the Shenandoah County Memorial Hospital and the Strasburg Hospitality Cart. They also regularly attended Wayside Theater productions in Middletown and Bark Hill Theater productions in Winchester.

Ada's cooking regime was defined by her commitment to a Kosher lifestyle. She would travel to Baltimore to purchase her meat and other items from a relative.

Ada died in Ventura County California.
