Portrait photograph of Charles Thomas Lutz, a long time employee of Massanutten Military Academy (MMA) in Woodstock, Virginia.
This photograph appeared in the 1927 Massanutten Academy yearbook titled, “The Adjutant”.
He was the Chief Engineer at Massanutten Military Academy for thirty years, retiring in 1945 due to health issues.
Born near Mt. Jackson, Charles was a son of James and Mary (Miller) Lutz. His wife was Anna “Annie” Barbara (Barb) Lutz (1875-1949). They married in 1892.
He lived in Woodstock for 35 years before he died.
When his obituary was published in the Northern Virginia Daily on 13 December 1948, the article noted that Charles Thomas Lutz was known to his wide circle of friends as “Pappy Lutz”.
