Cadet Trautman was from Dormont, Pennsylvania, and attended MMA for the 1926-1927 school year as a senior. He played football, basketball and was a member of the Jefferson Literary Society during his time there.
After he graduated, he went on to Carnegie Tech (now called Carnegie Mellon University).
This photograph was included in the 1927 MMA yearbook titled, "The Adjutant", where his nickname was "Wally".
