Carl Gilbert Baker was born in Fishers Hill and graduated from Strasburg High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War Two. His parents were Carl Bauman Baker and Luella Lee (Afflick) Baker.

Lucille was born at the Hottel-Keller home place near Mt. Olive, Va., the daughter of Carl Irving Conner, Sr. and Elsie V. (Barbe) Conner. She graduated from Toms Brook High School in 1941.

The couple married in 1945 and raised two children together: Stacey Lane Baker and Kendra Gaye (Baker) Byrd.

At some point, they moved to Augusta County where they spent the rest of their lives.

The glass plate negative of this image was stored in a box labeled "Oct 1943".

Identified in 2009 by both Phyllis Wright and June Hockman. They noted that the Bakers were very active in the Hottel-Keller families.
