Portrait photograph of Melda May (Baker) Hamilton as a young woman with short, curly hair and wearing a faux pearl necklace.

Melda was born in Fishers Hill near Strasburg, to Carl Bauman and Luella Lee (Affleck) Baker.

She married Gilbank Franklin Hamiliton, Jr., a carpenter originally from Markham, Virginia, in 1946.

By 1950, the couple lived in Washington D.C.

Melda lived in Baltimore, Md., when she died.
