Description

Photograph of Fleta Rebecca Scott Ruffin.

Rebecca, as she was known, was the daughter of Preston Scott Sr. and Fleta (McAfee) Scott of Woodstock, Virginia.

She had at least ten siblings and lived on Commerce Street in 1930. At that time, her father was a "presser" and had his own shop.

In the 1940 census, she and her family lived on High Street and in the 1950 census, they were on Water Street and she was doing housework in a private home.

She married some time after March 1954. Her husband was Charles Ruffin, Sr., a Staff Sergeant in the U.S. Marines.

She is buried with him in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery in Cheltenham, Prince Georges County, Maryland.

The name, "Scott", is written on the glass plate.
