Description

Portrait photograph of Laura Ripley (Middleton) Shannon as a little girl.

Born in Covington, Virginia, her parents were William Wylie Middleton, Sr. and his first wife, Katherine "Kacky" (Allen) Middleton. She grew up in Mt. Jackson.

In 1937, she married Donald Vincent Shannon, Sr. in Mt. Jackson. He was a graduate of Triplett Tech and had attended Roanoke College. They had at least one daughter together, Peggy Allen (Shannon) Wood.

Laura and her husband were living in the Winston Salem area of North Carolina, when she died of Bronchial Asthma at a relatively young age.
