Description

Portrait photograph of Mary Susan (Ambrose) Heishman as a young woman.

Her parents were James Keller and Lottie Virginia (Emerson) Ambrose and she was from Woodstock.

She worked as a bookkeeper in 1945 when she married for the first time. Her husband was First Lieutenant Gilbert Kiefer Coffman, Jr., who had served overseas in the Army in the two years before the wedding.

Both of them graduated from Woodstock High School. Susan also received a certificate from Massanutten Academy's Business School.

Gilbert was the son of Gilbert Kiefer Coffman and Lenore (Kolbe) Coffman.

In the 1950 census, she lived on Fairground Road in Woodstock with him. She worked as a secretary in an accounting office while Gilbert was listed as a clerk in a post office. A year later, the couple divorced.

She moved to Fairfax County and married again. Her second husband was Robert Franklin Heishman.

When she died, the couple lived in Fort Belvoir, Fairfax County, Virginia.
