Portrait photograph of Bessanna (Clem) Trussell as a young woman.

Born in Woodstock, she was the daughter of Roy Monroe and Olla Mae (Ritenour) Clem.

Her husband was Shirley Guy Trussell (1921-1986) from Purcelleville, Virginia, whom she married in 1942

The couple lived in Frederick County for most of their married lives. Bessanna's husband was a security guard for the Federal Government when he died .
