He was born on October 29, 1914, in "Waynesburg" (probably an error on the form), Virginia. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines in June 1944 and served as a Private when he was discharged.
He qualified as both a rifle marksman and a swimmer. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific area from January 1945 to June 1945.
He was discharged from Newport, Rhode Island, and given a travel allowance to get him to Woodstock, Virginia.
