Photograph of a form pertaining to Fred Orndorff Miller's discharge from the U.S. Marine Corps in August 1945.
He was born on 2 October 1918 in Woodstock, Virginia. He enlisted in the U.S. Marines in July 1941 and served as a Private First Class when he was discharged.
He qualified as a rifle marksman, MP, and Field Telegpne Man. He also served in the Asiatic-Pacific area from 12 March 1943 to 2 November 1945. He participated in action against enemy forces at Cape Gloucester, Paleliu, Okinawa, and New Guinea.
He was discharged from Bainbridge, Maryland, and given a travel allowance to get him to Washington D.C.
