She was the daughter of Noah Franklin and Fanny Amelia (Gochenour) Swartz.
She married John Thomas Mowrey, Jr. in 1948. At that time, he was a salesman and Helen was a member of the Cadet Nurse Corps at Winchester Memorial Hospital.
The couple moved out west to California and are both buried in Arizona.
Emulsion damage is visible around the upper edges of the photograph.

Identified in 2012 by Phyllis Wright who was a friend of the subject and remembered that Helen (Swartz) Mowrey was a sister of Phyllis' Aunt Mary. S. (Swartz) Foltz.
