Walter was the son of Daniel and Mary Alice (Hottle) Hottle. Bertha was the daughter of James Henry and Minerva (Ritenour) Stump.
Walter and Bertha lived in Toms Brook where Walter worked as a carpenter for much of his life. Together, they raised a large family.
Both are buried in Toms Brook.
