Miller, Lester Crabill (1906-1975)
Description
Lester Crabill Miller as a toddler standing on a wicker chair.
Lester was the oldest of five children born to John William and Sarah Eunice (Wotring) Miller. His middle name was Crabill which was taken from his maternal grandmother's maiden name, Margaret Elizabeth Crabill Wotring.
The farm he grew up on near Maurertown was originally a part of his great grandfather, Jonathan Stribling Crabill's estate.
Lester married Flora Myrtle Combs in Montclair, Essex County, New Jersey, in 1928. Myrtle was born in Kentucky, the daughter of Walker Combs and Margaret Estes "Maggie" Combs.
Initially, Lester and Myrtle lived in Middletown, Butler County, Ohio. However, they lived mostly in Winchester, Virginia, where their two daughters, Dorothy and Inez, grew up and went to school.
Lester worked for American Viscose Corporation in Front Royal, until his retirement.
He moved to Albin, just outside of Winchester, in his latter years.
