Photograph of a handwritten note written by Philip Snapp in 1796.
It says, "I do agree that John Newell may have my daughter to enter into a state of metrimony [sic]." The note is dated December 12, 1796 and signed (an "X" has been made) by Margaret "Caty" Snapp.
A separate handwritten note appears at the top of the photograph. It says: "The within Philip Snapp father to the within mentioned Margarett personally appeared and gave his consent to the _____ hereof."
