Colonel Benchoff was an influential headmaster of Massanutten Military Academy (MMA) in Woodstock from 1905-1955.
He was the son of Loudon Francis and Martha Belle (Johnston) Benchoff. His first wife was Kathryn Leona Mahon who died in 1918. His second wife was Florence Conant. He had a son, Robert J. Benchoff and a daughter, Mrs. William (Rosalie) W. Noel, when he died in Woodstock in 1958.
