Description

Photograph of an unused stone building located just south of Redbanks between Edinburg and Mt. Jackson.

This building was originally the site of the Riverside Tea Room, a restaurant opened between 1920 and 1925 by Arline (Allen) Davis and backed by owners Ken and Frank Stoneburner. It closed in the early 1930's.

In 1935, the site became "The Spot", a local dancing establishment where people could enjoy music, social opportunities, and a bottle brought from home.

The Spot closed in 1949.

The building burned in September 1950, just one day after it had re-opened as a manufacturing facility to make drape material.

The building still stands between the river and Route 11 which has since been re-routed to the west of the site..
