Cecil was born in Maurertown and was the owner of Borden's Auto Sales business in Edinburg for many years.
In the 1950 census, the couple lived in the Madison District of Shenandoah County. They had three young children: Patsy (7), Gerald (2) and Nelson (1). At that time, Cecil worked at a filling station.
The image on the left has a mark (an "X") at the top where the photographer noted which of the two images he planned to print.
