Her parents were Marvin Gilbert and Lona (Helsley) Funkhouser of Edinburg.
Nancy married William "Bill" Shipp in 1962. Their son, Andrew William Shipp was born a couple of years later.
The couple moved to Northern Virginia where Nancy worked at the General Adjustment Bureau in Washington, D.C.
After moving back to Shenandoah County, she worked for Safeway Stores in Woodstock for many years, finishing her working life at Strasburg High School in the Guidance Office.
She is buried in Woodstock.
